Fine Woodworks by Tom Arthur
Your imagination is my limitation
Laying out a perfect ellipse proved to be the first challenge. I devised a custom made jig and the results were very good.
This is the second floor pattern made, The first was deemed too small for the number of work spaces desired.
Once the optimum size was determined, construction began. The unit was made in five sections to fit through the doors at the school.
The desk was then covered with tongue and groove strips of solid cherry to achieve the desired aesthetic appeal.
Stain was applied and three coats of polyurethane
The desk was then installed in the office of the school with a custom made solid surface counter top.
Custom made hollow columns were installed to allow power and data cables to be run from the ceiling to the reception desk.
The finished product allows for a happy woodworker and very happy school secretaries and administrators.
